Each thruster has external controls to move the vanes. We had planned to renew the bearings and seals on the thruster vanes. They were in relatively good condition, but were due for renewal. The shaft in this picure is attached to the vane through the bearing and seal assembly. The vertical smaller shaft is connected to a hydraulic ram which moves the vane.
