Maylin's Place*


Greetings from Fuling! In China I'm called Fu De Qiao, but once I get to California you can call me Maylin. I'm 9 months old & I've lived in Fuling all my life. Welcome to my 1st web page!

In April 2002 Linda did a stationary project for Half the Sky.

She used dozens of beautiful kids Dick Bowen photographed in China.

There was one shot that captured the whole thing about loving a child.

At this point we had been waitng nearly 2 years for Maylin.

We did lots of things that parents do to get ready for a new baby.

We bought a secondhand crib and cleaned it up.

On May 31, 2002 we got our referral, delivered thru BAAS, our agency.

Our first glimpse of Maylin - she's gorgeous and we are ecstatic!

We are aleady madly in love with with our Little One :-)

We look at the photos endlessly & study the cryptic health report.

Our hearts are throbbing- look at those cheeks, look at those booties!

Our daughter, and we are desperate to hop the next plane to Fuling.

The next morning, our first breakfast with Maylin.

Later that day we share the photos and health report with Ma.

Ma intently studies the Chinese characters in the health report.

We cross-reference her translation with the English version.

Ma gets out her magnifying lense to catch all the nuances.

We stare intently at the photos, pinching ourselves.

So close... so far away still.

We didn't know it yet, but this is where Maylin was living.
