BG - Gay Games

It is true that people group together to form a bond of some kind, and this has remained true throughout the ages. First, it was a matter of protection against common enemies, but now it is sometimes simply a matter of preference. We are all human and if you cut us, the color of the blood is always the same.

Therefore, we would be remiss if we did not include the following information for those of you interested in finding Bridge Players, with whom you have something in common. Take a moment of your time and remember that there should be no prejudice at the Bridge Table, but rather people enjoying a card game.

We are requesting the viewer to aid us in completing this list. If you know of any Gay Bridge Sites, please drop us a note with the corresponding address and we shall include it. Trying to keep up is almost impossible, but with your help, we can certainly try.

Gay Links

Gay Links

We have decided to post a list of any gay bridge player who would like to be included as an email contact. We have had several requests for such a list, but we also realize the reservations of many gay bridge players. Therefore, we have concluded that only the information given to us be made available to the public.

Many email addresses contain the real name of the holder, and if any bridge player would prefer not to have his/her name as part of the email address, but still would like to be included as a contact, then we suggest that the email address holder get another email address without that particular information.

We also respect the preference of any gay bridge player who does not wish to be included on this email contact list. Our purpose is to give other bridge players the opportunity to list their email address, so that other bridge players can contact them. Allowing us to publish a general location, such as California, would assist others greatly.

Information, such as member of OKBridge or other online bridge clubs, would also be appreciated, so that other online members could contact each other, since they have a common format. We are not seeking telephone numbers or actual street addresses, but rather the email address, which will be used as a form of contacting one another.

Contacts

If any gay bridge player would like to be added to the list, which has not yet been posted, please contact us with the information you would prefer to see added to your email address. If you prefer that only your email address be added, that is also quite acceptable.

If you decide to include your email address, scroll down to the bottom of this page, and send us email with the information you wish included. All responses will be recognized and be handled with discretion.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us, and we shall try to answer them honestly, sincerely, and promptly.

Gay Sport Europe

Gay Sport in Europe

The European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF) was founded in 1989. Its aims are to fight against discrimination in sport on grounds of sexual preference, to stimulate integration in sport and emancipation of lesbians and gays, to enable and support the coming out of gay and lesbian sports men and women, to exchange information and enable co-ordination between European sport groups and tournaments, and to support the founding of new gay/lesbian/straight and mixed groups.

The GAYSPORT web site and related services are a non-profit venture of the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF) . It's aim is to provide a free and independant information service to the LGBT community around the world.

With these services, the following goals are met:

* promote gay and lesbian sports
* stimulate gays and lesbians to participate into sports in general, and gay and lesbian sports in particular
* promote the creation of new gay and lesbian sport groups, or at least sport groups where gays and lesbians are not discriminated against on the ground of their sexual preferences
* promote the organisation of sport events where gays and lesbians can freely express themselves without hiding their sexual preference

The website and mailinglist, like all other EGLSF projects, are completely run by volunteers. All people "behind the screens" are committed to continuously further improving the services for the gay and lesbian sports community.

Sports Alliance LA

The Gay and Lesbian Sports Alliance of Greater Los Angeles was formed in August 1991 to promote recreational and competitive sports within the community. The Alliance does not organize any sports, but instead acts as a source of information for who's playing what, when and where.

The L.A. Sports Alliance is busiest during the Gay Games, held every four years. In New York, for example, the group coordinated housing for more than 200 athletes of Team LA. In 1998, the L.A. Sports Alliance also organized uniforms for the L.A. contingent in Amsterdam. The next Games are in Sydney in 2002.

The Alliance operates a 24-hour hotline (310-515-3337) for people to get information on about 30 sports. Here is the most recent list of sports being offered in Greater Los Angeles. Some (swimming, bowling, running and tennis, for example) are very well-established while others (gymnastics, roller hockey) are in the formative stages.

Swimming, water polo, badminton, basketball, bicycling, billiards, bowling, boxing, darts, equestrian, figure skating, flag football, golf, hiking, outdoors activities, ice hockey, roller hockey, rugby, rowing, running, scuba, soccer, softball, martial arts, gymnastics, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling.

If you have an interest in organizing a sport not on the list please contact the L.A. Sports Alliance hotline.
