Agran, Nathan

Mr. Nathan Agran Esq., or Nat, was born 1908 and died 1993, and lived in Sarasota, Florida. He was a bridge teacher, who instructed the soldiers of the World War I on how to play the game of bridge. After the war he continued to teach and instruct, together with his wife Violet Agran, the game to the verterans and the disabled verterans of that war. It was not important

He also won the Beynon Trophy in 1948 and several regional events and became Life Master #148.

Upon his retirement he and his wife moved to Florida and became involved and active not only in the bridge community, but also the activities of the community.

Mr. Nathan Agran will most likely not be remembered for his achievements at the bridge table, but rather his achievements as General Consul of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Commission on Human Relations from 1960 to 1973. It was during this term that he presented to, argued, and won several landmark decisions from the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania on de facto school segregation. See below.
