Adler, Betty - formerly Mrs. Robert Goldberg

Betty Adler (maiden name is unknown), also Mrs. Julian Adler, formerly Mrs. Robert Goldberg, born in the year 1927 and died in the year 2000, of Baltimore, Maryland, was a Board Member of the Maryland Bridge Association for fifteen years. She was President of the Maryland Bridge Association twice, and she was a Tournament Chairperson from 1970 to 1980. She was also one of the first persons to participate as a bridge director on cruise ships.

She placed Second in the Summer Nationals for Women's Pairs in the year 1958 (unconfirmed).

She won Gold at the Summer Nationals for Women's Pairs in 1959 competing for the Whitehead Trophy with partner Dorothy Hayden, who later became Mrs. Dorothy Hayden Truscott.

She won Gold at the Keystone Conference Regional Championships for Open Pairs in the year 1961 with Mr. Julian Adler, her husband, as her partner.

She won Gold at the Mid-Atlantic Fall Regional Championships for Mixed Pairs in the year 1962 (unconfirmed).

She won Gold at the Summer Mixed Pairs in the year 1964 (unconfirmed).

She won Gold at the Winter Women's Pairs in the year 1967 (unconfirmed).

She won Gold at the Mid-Atlantic Independence Day Regional Championships for Open Teams in the year 1968 with Mr. Julian Adler, her husband, as her partner.

She won Gold at the Summer Mixed Pairs in the year 1968 (unconfirmed).

She won the Women's Knockout Teams in 1977. Until 1976 the Women’s Teams was a four-session event scored by Board-a-Match. It was contested as a three-session championship until 1972 and in 1975. In 1976 the event became a Women’s Knockout with Swiss qualifying. Her team members were: Betty Adler, Jo Morse, Judi Radin, Sue Sachs.

She won Gold in the Women's Knockout Teams in 1979 in the same event in 1979 with team members: Betty Adler, Anne Burnstein, Edith Kemp, Terry, Michaels, Jo Morse, Sue Sachs.

She placed Second and won Silver in the Women's Knockout Teams in 1980 with team members: Betty Adler, Pat Lapides, Pat Leary, Terry Michaels, Jo Morse, Jan Stansby.

She placed Second and won Silver in the Master Mixed Teams - later renamed the Mixed Board-A-Match Teams - in 1970 with team members: Betty Adler, Julian Adler, Dave Sachs, Sue Sachs, who tied for second place with: Ken Barbour, William Daly, Mickey Rosenthal, Helen Strasberg, Dave Strasberg. It was Julian Adler, whom she later married to become Mrs. Betty Adler.

She placed Second and won Silver in the Master Mixed Teams - later renamed the Mixed Board-A-Match Teams - in 1973 with team members: Betty Adler, Julian Adler, David Sachs, Sue Sachs. There was a four-way tie for second place.

She placed Second and won Silver in the Master Mixed Teams - later renamed the Mixed Board-A-Match Teams - in 1978 with team members: Betty Adler, Julian Adler, David Sachs, Sue Sachs.

Betty Adler was also a Diamond Life Master. Her World Bridge Federation Master Point Reference Number is: 703 and her WBF Code is: USA&501186.

In the semifinals for the Spingold Knockout Team Championship in July 1987 the team of Betty Adler was second by 36 points to Mrs. Kathy Wei's top-seeded group, which included Judi Radin, Jacqui Mitchell, Federal Judge Amalja L. Kearse, Carol Sanders and Betty Ann Kennedy.
