Peggy Adams
Peggy Adams, born 1900 and died 1974, of New York, New York, United States, was a long-time staff member of the ACBL, who worked in the Masterpoint Department from 1948 to 1966. She was the feature writer for the Club Corner for The Bridge Bulletin. During her other career, as a vaudevillian in her youth, she was known also by her stage name of Peggy Hart.
She became Life Master #300 in 1950.
In 1950 she won Mixed Pairs with partner A.L. Gotthelf at the Eastern States Regional Championships.
In 1952 she tied for Bronze and Silver for the Wagar Trophy. Her team consisted of Helen Baker, Marguerite Harris, and Ethel Keohane.
In 1955 she won the Gold for the Wagar Trophy. Her team consisted of Carolyn Brall, Louise Eisenman, Shirley Johnson, and Juanita Strich.
In 1951, with partner M. Harris, and in 1957, with partner M. Harris, she won the Woman's Pairs at the Eastern States Regional Championships.
In 1958 she placed second in the Women's Pairs at the New York-New Jersey Conference Regional Championships.
Note: During these particular years it has become difficult to actually designate the particular bridge event owing to the experimental evolution of the tournaments. This is the reason why the wins of Peggy Adams are listed under the Wagar Trophy, the Coffin Trophy (presently known as the Marsha May Sternberg Memorial Trophy), and the Women's Teams. This in no way detracts from her victories at the bridge table.
We are more than happy to update and add any accomplishments not mentioned here.
