In Round 13 of the Open, the IMP score of the Great Britain-Australia match was Great Britain 7, Australia 2 (and two of Britain's points came from a substitute board).
Does anyone know of a lower match score (total IMPs) in a world championship match of 16 boards?
Please let us know.
On the same 16 deals, the Philippines and Ukraine ended in a 15-15 tie, but the IMP score was Ukraine 46, Philippines 44; 90 IMPs instead of 9.
Not So Expensive

In the Press Room the other day, Patrick Jourdain inadvertently backed into a fellow journalist who was drinking a cup of coffee while standing near his personal computer.
The coffee spilled onto the computer, which came to an abrupt stop, and a small explosion followed.
Realizing what he had done, Patrick apologized profusely and added, I must replace it.
The journalist said, No, no. It is much too expensive.
I meant the coffee, said Patrick.
We Need That Paper! A large supply of the A3 paper that we use to print the Daily News was taken from the Daily News office yesterday.
This is special paper - paper that will be very difficult to replace in the limited time we have left in this tournament.
If you have the paper, please, please return it. We really need it to produce your daily newspaper.

IBPA names d'Orsi Honor Member See: Bulletin 13
Ernesto d'Orsi of Brazil, past president of the World Bridge Federation and now a member of the WBF Executive, was named the 1996 Honor Member of the International Bridge Press Association.
Only one member of the bridge world is so honored each year.
D'Orsi has an exemplary history of achievement in bridge. He was the chairman of the 1972 Bermuda Bowl World Championships in 1972, then ran one of the best World Championships ever held in 1979 in Rio de Janeiro. He repeated the feat at the World Championships in Sao Paulo in 1985.
An oustanding player in his own right, d'Orsi also has been the major force for bridge in South America for about two decades. He has been president of the Brazilian Bridge Federation and the South American Bridge Federation.
He has been a key figure in the World Bridge Federation for many years, and he served as president in 1991. He also has served the bridge press as a member of the Executive of the IBPA.
Congratulations and Thanks!

By Panos GerontopoulosDear Editor:
Do you realize that the number of readers of your Daily News has increased enormously during the past few years? For decades, only players, kibitzers and organizers present at the Championships have read the bulletins.
However, new technology (computers and Internet) has made it possible for bridge players and journalists to follow the play and the results ? almost on-line.
Today the World Bridge Federation, several NCBOs and even bridge clubs have their own home page. Due to a lot of volunteers, bridge news as well as software and other valuable material are now available to everyone.
On behalf of the gentlemen of the press, I want to thank the pioneers, in particular Chyah Burchard (USA), Niels Wendell Pedersen (Denmark), Hans van Staveren (Netherlands) and Ivan Calame (Switzerland).
They have done an outstanding job with Championship Bulletins from everywhere (downloading, transmitting, repairing, etc.). Thanks to them and to the organizers of the Championships, it is now possible to inform the rest of the bridge world just shortly after the results are published on the Internet.
