Ferns, moss, algae and lichens grow at the entrance to this cave. Nothing green will grow within the darkness of a cave of course, but sometimes bizarre looking fungus will grow on organic matter that's been washed in or left by someone. Black Keld has quite a population of brown trout, turned white further into the cave. These seem to be more common at some times than others. It's quite a shock for fish and divers when the two meet suddenly in the underwater gloom. |
