Scargill House in Winter

Scargill House was built by a rich industrialist and later bought and extended by the church as a religous retreat. It lies across the road from Black Keld and at first it was thought the cave would go under the house and up a nick in the scar at the back. In fact the cave is about 50 metres east of the house and trending in a South Easterly direction. It's close to the predicted route or not, depending on which theories subscribed to!

Don't worry about the house collapsing, there is at least 25 metres of solid rock above the cave!
