Sunny Day Black Keld

Sunny days come even to Black Keld, but it doesn't always mean the visibility of the water is any better. In fact the all important 'viz' can be worse in summer because particles of peat and dust are more easily suspended in the warmer water. The best viz is in the winter during cold dry spells. However these days are very rare in the wet Pennines (and then we're usually at work). However we can't always wait for the absolute best conditions and must make do as best we can. Sometimes the dive has to be aborted, sometimes we make progress. At the very least we keep up a level of diving fitness and psychological preparedness to dive for long periods of time while almost blind.
