Who we are, what we do
Earl's Power and Light is
a student organization on campus here at Warren College (at good ol'
UCSD). In it's second year and under new management. We here at Earl's
Power And Light (EPAL) are students dedicated to helping students on
campus who are having problems with computers (their own or the school's)
and thus have set up this site to help you folks get help from us.
Of course, that's not all we do! We have plans to do a lot more this year,
such as:
- Hacker U. where we show you some fun things that they
don't put in user manuals! Use freeware and shareware to become more
powerful (or at least make stuff look cool).
- Masters of the Games learn how some of our local gaming
experts get those high scores and secret powerups you keep hearing about!
- EPAL Championship Tournaments You've been to Masters of the
Games, so now you think you're the best gamer on campus? Here's your
chance to prove it! Tetris, Doom, Marathon, And More!
Thanks to everyone who showed up for our first Championship Tournament
last Tuesday (all four of you). Sorry that the Macs in our lab couldn't
handle Marathon Infinity, and Avara had a dismal frame rate. Maybe we'll
play Bolo next time.
And now for some introductions
Brian Blovett is the guy who is
currently in charge of this outfit (mainly because nobody else wanted the
job). He hangs out in the Warren MacLab more than any person with a life
should, and does so partly to help anyone who's happens to run into a
problem there. He has set up his own web site as well as this
one.
This just in: I just found out that the guy who started this
whole thing wanted the job, but I volunteered first.
Note that all of our FAQ sheets are woefully incomplete. If you have a question, please Tell us what it is! We
will get back to you ASAP and update our site just for you!
Trust me,
we've got plenty of time for these things (us CSE Majors don't have lives
anyway).
