What's New?

April 25, 1999 -
The episode review for Bliss is finally up. It's not the humerous format that you may have been expecting. A number of circumstances are responsible (among them: other things we just have to get done, and the fact that we couldn't stand watching the episode again to find things to parody). If we get the stomach for it, we'll try "upgrade" the reviews for "Bliss" and "Volunteers" in the coming weeks.

It's finally here. The detailed analysis for Payback has been posted. As stated before, it's a harsh review, but we feel that it's justified. We feel that the issues discussed in the article needed to be said, but we weren't too thrilled about being the messengers. Please be lenient in your hate mail. Unfortunately, even with 30-40 pages of material, it only begins to scratch the surface of the problems with season 2, but we hope you'll find this an adequate beginning.

Yes, for those of you that have inquired, we are still here. We'd like to announce that we've finally caught up with all our episode reviews, but we can't. What we have done is written a sneak preview (introduction) to the detailed analysis article for "Payback". The article itself is pretty much written, and is now going through the proofreading/editing stages. The same goes for the review of "Volunteers". We'd like to thank everyone for your patience.

We apologize again for not getting the episode reviews up sooner. We have all hit our busy cycles and are pressed for time. We hope to start posting things within the next few days. The detailed analysis for "Payback" is still being written. We're sorry for the delay, but there are some sensitive issues concerning the Roddenberry vision we don't wish to misrepresent so we are being cautious. It's very detailed, and we hope that the critical points can be easily generalized to cover all the episodes from Second Chances through Bliss. (24 pages and counting)

The review for "Payback" is finally up. Sorry for being so late (again), but we are working on a really long detailed analysis pointing out all the flaws for this episode. We've also been researching lots of background information for this review.
February 10, 1999 -
We finally got the episode review for Second Chances up! Sorry it took so long, but we got really busy this week. The review isn't as outlandish as some of our other reviews from this season, but we did bring visual aids!
February 10, 1999 -
We finally got some video capture equipment of our very own. No longer must we migrate to a public computer miles away to capture frames from episodes. We'll slowly add more frame captures to the review pages that don't have them. For anybody that's interested, we got a Matrox Rainbow Runner-G (Made in Canada ;-)).
January 24, 1999 -
The brief analysis for The Gauntlet is up. Feedback is very welcome as we are uncertain of our plans as EFC continues to deteriorate. (Participation is also very welcome.)
January 17, 1999 -
The episode review for Between Heaven and Hell is up. Once again, you may notice the slight difference in style in the review. We hope you get a good laugh, because there are very few redeeming qualities in this episode.
January 9, 1999 -
The episode review for Isabel is finally up. We apologize for not getting it there right after the episode aired like we normally do, but watching the episode made us violently ill. You may notice a slight difference in style in this review. If the quality of the episodes does not improve eventually, we may need to stop doing regular reviews altogether for health reasons.

We're still looking for volunteers to help us out! We now have access to closed captioning transcripts, but we need people to polish them up for us. We think that this could become a useful part of the Companion, but we can't make it work without your help!

Some minor additions and changes to the guide pages for season 2:
  • There are more comments in the Questions and Analysis sections of Moonscape and Fissures about Lazarus, cosciousness transfer, and Sandoval's CVI. Our thanks to Jen LeMaire, Lara Nicosia, Helen Rapozo, and Steven Seyler, who wrote in with details that we missed. Many thanks to everybody in the EFC community for helping to keep this site as accurate as possible!
  • We've revised the guest stars and writing/directing credits for the season 2 episodes that have aired so far, now that the official site has finally listed those credits for those episodes.
November 24, 1998 -
A minor revision to the detailed analysis for First of Its Kind has been made. A quote concerning Sandoval's Run was accidentally missing from the first draft. Sorry about that. Also, minor touches to the Fissures synopsis have been made including a new Boone theory.
And if you haven't already, we encourage you to look at the Gargoyles article. It echos the quality slide that EFC has been suffering from. (Sorry, we still haven't completed the Star Trek article.)
November 13, 1998 -
MP3s for all the variant title themes so far from seasons 1 and 2 have been posted on our downloads page. We were suprised that nobody else had created and posted them yet, so we did it ourselves. We've also added a new link to our EFC commercial, hosted by the EFC Nexus.
November 2, 1998 -
The detailed analysis for First of Its Kind has been posted. (This one is fairly long.)
October 10, 1998 -
Our apologies for the lack of updates. We have just posted several new articles.
  • Detailed analyses for Sandoval's Run and for The Secret of Strandhill are now available.
  • There is also a new article in the Feature Articles Section.
  • We also have made several updates to the Futurity Farms Section.
  • Also, if you had read our Babylon 5 Article during the first couple of weeks after our launch, we encourage you to revisit it as we have revised it to be more comprehensive. It was changed 2-3 weeks after our launch, but we never announced it. For any Babylon 5 fans out there, we welcome feedback. We would like to know your opinion on if this was an accurate representation of Babylon 5.
  • Finally, we have added a small download section. We have a promotional commercial for EFC from the first season which we have not seen anywhere on the net. We originally made an offer to other web sites to host the movie, but to our surprise, we only received one response. We are currently working with them to mirror the movie. In the meantime, we have posted the movie, but due to space limitations, they file has been broken-up quite drastically. One of the download sites tends to be on the slow side as well.

Now that you've gotten a taste of what we're trying to do here at The Companion, we are looking for volunteers. There are many things we want to do with this site, but we currently lack the resources to get it all done. If you like what we have been doing, and you think you might be able to contribute, please contact us. In particular, we are looking for people to help us write articles. But we also could use assistance with the news, the synopses, artwork, and probably anything else you can think of. So, if you are looking for hard work and no pay, please contact Eric and Brian.

We are! Greetings everybody and welcome to The Companion. We have been lurking in the background for a good number of months preparing this site. We decided that in celebration of the airing of Infection, we would publically announce this site. We have much planned, but due to the overwhelming task of getting the basic support structure for this site in place, we have not yet completed all the tasks we desired. Please bear with us as we attempt to get this site up to speed. Please see the About Earth: Final Conflict section for more about this site.
