June 26, 1999 -	Kevin Kilner (William Boone) is co-starring in the Disney television movie "Smart House" premiering Saturday, June 26 at 7pm on the Disney Channel. Director Levar Burton (Geordi LaForge from Star Trek: TNG) boasts that there are 4 times more special effects than in the typical Star Trek episode. Also stars Katey Sagal (Leela from Futurama). June 11, 1999 -	We have suffered a tragic loss today. DeForest Kelley, best known for playing Dr. Leonard McCoy on the original Star Trek series, died today at the age of 79. Originally aspiring to be a real-life doctor, Kelley never objected to being typecast and came to love the role of Dr. McCoy. We feel our own words are too inadequate to express the significance and contribution of Mr. Kelley. As such, we would like to quote two passages hinting at his spirit. Majel Barrett Roddenberry said of him, "He was truly one of the most remarkable and talented men to walk the face of the earth. This is the biggest loss that Star Trek will ever have, excluding Gene." Leonard Nimoy said, "He represented humanity and it fitted him well. He was a decent, loving, caring partner and will be deeply missed."
April 1, 1999 -	It's a girl! Lisa Howard had a baby girl on April 1st. According to the Lisa Howard Fan Club, mother, daughter, and father are all doing just fine.
March 31, 1999 -	Fanfic writer Browny and associates are starting up (going public with) a Season 2 protest page. This is a place of refuge for those who feel betrayed by season 2. This is not a place for season 2 fans and they are careful to warn those people away. Go there to see it.
March 17, 1999 -	Cinescape Online has posted news about Leni Parker's (Da'an) uncertainty about remaining on the show for the 2000 to 2001 season. She is considering motherhood which would be difficult to hide in the Da'an outfit. Go there for the full article.
March 11, 1999 -	Not EFC news, but considering the enormous dry spell on quality sci-fi, we thought you might like a 2 minute and 30 second taste of something good. The second trailer for Star Wars: Episode 1 has been released for download at the Official Star Wars Site. With the exception of the screaming of "NOOOO....!" at the end, it is quite awing.

January 29, 1999 -	Earth: Final Conflict has been renewed for 2 more seasons. We at the Companion aren't terribly thrilled with this news, considering current the state of the show. We hope that watching the next 2 years of EFC proves to be a pleasure and not the test of endurance that watching season 2 has been so far. January 17, 1999 -	We received a very nice letter from Maribeth Solomon (one of the composers for EFC). She says that they plan to finish the soundtrack CD after the scoring for season 2 is done (filming ends in March?). She says thank you to everybody who has expressed interest in the CD. December 6, 1998 -	The Gene Roddenberry Philosophy Sphere has finally posted the transcript from the chat with Eugene Roddenberry Jr. from the NASA Challenge Project back in September. Nothing much on EFC, but it was a hoot for the people that attended.

November 26, 1998 -	The December issues of SFX and Sci-Fi Universe and the January issue of Sci-Fi Entertainment all have articles on EFC. Unfortunately, none of these articles address the rising dissention between the fan base and the "new direction". Sci-Fi Entertainment mentions that production designer, Stephen Roloff, has ambitions to make Earth a "hub" for many alien races to meet, which may be disappointing news for those who long for the once conservative (in regards to fantasy), Earth centric series. Hopefully most of this information will be outdated following the McCord departure.

November 14, 1998 -	Also for people disappointed with the direction of season 2, there may be hope. Lisa stated that "Jonas McCord", one of the new producers responsible for the "new direction" has left the show. She also referred to Majel Barrett and David Kirschner as being "back on board". November 14, 1998 -	Lisa Howard announced to the members of the Lisa Howard Fan Club that she and her husband are expecting. Oct 2-4, 1998 -	Earth: Final Conflict received 1 out of the 4 Gemini Awards it was nominated for. It won Best Original Music Score for a Dramatic Series for The Secret of Strandhill by Micky Erbe and Maribeth Solomon.
Oct 17-18, 1998 -	This has been floating around on the Usenet for awhile. A charity auction is being held Oct 17-18. Among the invited guests are Von Flores (Agent Sandoval) and Nigel Bennett (Major MacIntyre). This was originally posted at the Philosophy Sphere, but the link was taken down (though the file still seems to be accessible). We inquired if the transcript was removed for any particular reason, but we have not received a response. September 17, 1998 -	The Sci-Fi Dominion has announced an on-line chat with Lisa Howard (Capt. Lili Marquette) on Thurs, Sept. 17 at 10pm EST. There is also a short article on "Gender, Race, and Star Trek" on their home page.
Month of Sept, 1998 -	With the approach of Senator John Glenn's return to space in October, NASA's Outreach and Life Sciences programs (with the National Institutes of Aging and of Health) have developed the Challenge Project. The goal of the project is to study the effects of mental fitness, physical fitness, and environment (gravity) in the aging process. A cross-generational crew consisting of high school students, teachers, military officers, and other professions will spend a week (Sept. 23-30) on the sea floor in Key Largo, FL. NASA will start taking submissions for questions starting Sept. 1st through the 30th. NASA will also provide interaction with the crew during the week they are on the floor. Celebrity crew members include Kate Mulgrew (Capt. Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager) and Earth: Final Conflict's very own Eugene Roddenberry Jr.

August 13, 1998 -	Atlantis Communications Inc. has released a full press release announcing the production of Season 2 of Earth: Final Conflict. In this announcement is a list or returning actors (if you really want to know) and an introduction to Liam Kincaid (played by Robert Leeshock).
August 11, 1998 -	Earth: Final Conflict receives four Gemini nominations for Best Production Design or Art Direction in a Dramatic Program or Series, Best Original Music Score for a Dramatic Series, Best Visual Effects, and Best Sound in a Dramatic Program or Series. May 6, 1998 -	Eugene Roddenberry Jr. posted the following at Gene Roddenberry's Philosophy Sphere concerning the cancellation of #120 "Infection" for the week of May 10th. HEy Everyone, I spoke with someone @ Tribune and the reason, given to me, as to why "Infection" is being pulled and shown later is becasue if it had not, then the last episode, "The Joining" would have aired Memorial Day Weekend. That is something that Tribune did not want. Apparently ratings show that there is a smaller audience during that time. I understand thier reasonning but still agree that it will essentially ruin "Infection" if they show it AFTER the final Episode. The representative I spoke with reflected our feelings as well but the decision has already been made. Sorry! If I could do something I certainly would. -Eugene W. Roddenberry [sic]

February 5, 1998 -	Atlantis Communications Inc (a partner with Tribune Entertainment Company in producing Final Conflict) has announced the renewal of the show for a second season bringing the total episodes up to 44.
