Florida

In February, the boys and I spent a week with Grandma Roz and Grandpa Jim and their new place in Florida.

This was the boys first trip sitting in airplane seats where they could fasten and unfasten the seatbelts -- what fun! We met Grandma Roz in Dallas and flew the last leg to Fort Myers together. The boys traveled wonderfully and seemed to adjust the new time zone right away. Well, at least the adjusted to waking up early in the morning. They were having such a good time that they managed to get by on less sleep than normal.

The boys love Grandma Roz and Grandpa Jim's house -- especially the heated swimming pool that was always kept and a comfortable 86 degrees. Grandma Roz and the boys took advantage of the beautiful sunsets most evenings by going for a swim.

During the week, we spent a relaxing afternoon on the beach where Omar seemed to conquer his fear of the ocean. I think it helped that the waves were a mere trickle at their feet. We also had a great time at the Naples zoo where we saw lots of interesting animals and went on a special boat ride.

Matthew and Omar were treated to ice cream a couple of the nights and developed a new way of enjoying their strawberry ice cream cones. They put the cones upside down in a cup so that they could much on the sugar cone before tackling the ice cream.

Grandma Roz and Grandpa Jim were very understanding hosts and were especially nice about letting me nurse my jet lag in the morning by watching Matthew and Omar when they woke up. Grandpa Jim still hasn't lost the touch with diaper changes, either. He got plenty of practice with Matthew and Omar. Hopefully, that'll be a thing of the past during our next visit.

The boys keep asking about Grandma Roz and Grandpa Jim and can't wait for them to come out to California for a visit.
