Woo hoo!

Beware the 'Ignore Stack Groupings' Checkbox
A bug or a feature?
I'm not sure how many other Aperture users may have seen this one, but I got bit by it- hard so I wanted to warn others...

In the Smart Album HUD there is a very tempting little checkbox labelled 'Ignore Stack Groupings'. To my mind that seemed a great checkbox because it would basically 'unstack' images and allow me to find all images- even those nested in a stack. Well, that is what it does, but it also has one unexpected side effect. I thought that it was a bug so I filed a report and was told that it behaves as intended- which is not how I expected it to behave. So be forewarned:

If you have a Smart Album with Ignore Stack Groupings checked and you drag an image into an Album then Aperture automatically makes a new Version of that image (which gives you another image in your Smart Album).
