Oregon Visit May 2005

I visited Sebastian again this weekend.

Since Sebastian was not able to make it down this month, I decided to go up and visit him again.

We had another good visit.

Sebastian is still proving to be such an actor. At least this visit I did not have to watch Harry Potter multiple times. (Oops... before I finished typing this Blog entry, Sebastian woke up and is asking to watch Harry Potter again).

We went to FredMeyers this afternoon and I purchased a Little Tikes Pirate Ship for him. Natalie had told me that every time they go to that store he says he wants the "Pirate Ship".

We put it together and then had sword fights !!!.

Oregon Visit

I spent this last weekend in Klamath Falls visiting Sebastian.

I have not seen him since November. He has grown so much in just these few months !!!

I drove up on Thursday and was able to see him that evening and all of Friday and Saturday. He is so much fun right now. Almost as soon as I arrived, he put on a little skit of him acting out the "evil witch" from Snow White. He knows so many of the lines and he is so dramatic as he acts it out (So Cute!!).

He is also into Harry Potter movies right now. I don"t know how many times he watched the DVD while I was there.

The other activity that he really enjoyed doing was playing in my truck. He acted out the part of the driver of the "crazy bus" (Knight Bus... H/P). We must have spent a couple of hours sitting in my truck as he played.

In addition to playing with Sebastian, I also setup a Macintosh computer with an iSight camera that will enable me to video chat with Sebastian. We have used it everyday since I returned. It has worked out very well. I will enjoy seeing him "face-to-face" in this manner since I cannot make the drive to Oregon as often as I would like.

Travel Town

We visited Travel Town at Griffith Park today.

This morning Sebastian was "signing" train and car to us. He was letting us know that he wanted to go out and see the train (normally he does that when he wants Natalie to take him to the Puente Hills Mall and ride the little train they have there).

Natalie thought it would be fun to go to Travel Town. So we hopped into the car and dove over to Griffith Park.

Sebastian loved all the trains. He has been into Thomas the Train for a while now. He was able to climb into all of the Engines they had on display. It turned out to be quite an adventure for him. And I actually enjoyed it (I had never been there before).

Trick-or-Treat Street

It was "Trick-or-Treat Street" at Downtown Disney today.

Natalie, Sebastian and I drove down to Disneyland and made the attempt. I say attempt because the place was packed!!

The event was scheduled from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. We arrived 20 minutes early, and were one of the last lucky few to get a packing spot in the park.

After walking over to Downtown Disney, we discovered what he had got into. It was wall-to-wall people. There was a line for registration that looped for what seemed like a mile. This was just to get a punch card that allows you to stop at each venue that was handing out candy.

I could not see us waiting for what was looking like a 2 hour wait just to get a few trinkets and some candy. So we decided just to walk around a little bit instead. Sebastian didn't understand anyway, and he enjoyed it just the same.

Sebastian was dressed in his Captain Feathersword's costume for the second day in a row (it was washed last night).


After we made our way through the area, we took the tram back to the parking structure. From there we made the long walk to our car. Actually we made a detour through the Disneyland Hotel area. Stopping by the waterfalls and the rose garden.

Halloween at the Los Angeles Zoo

Today was Halloween at the LA Zoo

The three of us went Trick or Treating today.

Natalie heard the Zoo was having a special event today. Children were allowed to come to the zoo in their costumes and were treated to special Halloween events. Sebastian wore his Captain Featherswords outfit. He was so cute!



They had 4 separate areas that the kids could go Trick or Treating. Sebastian was a little shy at first, but was fine later in the day.

In addition to getting candy, we enjoyed walking the park and seeing the different animals.


And I got a little surprise while there, I ran into my old boss and friend Joe Croupe !!!

We had just stepped out of line (getting candy) when I spotted Joe. He volunteers at the zoo. Joe was responsible for the largest event area in the middle of the zoo. He also mentioned that Mike Malezak (sp?) was there (Mike was over in the "Down Under" section). We went back to say "Hi" to Mike but could not locate him.

I was a good day. We all enjoyed our visit.

The Wiggles: Dorothy the Dinosaur Show

Natalie, Sebastian and I went to see Dorothy this afternoon.

We though it was a "Wiggles" concert, but instead it was a Dorothy show. Sebastian loved it just the same!

None of the Wiggles cast were involved.

The music was on par with the normal Wiggles show (Natalie and I think that the person who played Captain Feathersword was the stand-in for Greg last February. He actually did a good job singing). The numbers included Dorothy, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword.

The concert was held at the Long Beach Center Theater. It's a small venue right behind the Performing Arts Center. It only sat 850 people (400-500 of which were age 3 and under. Fun!).

How is it that a person my age would know so much about the Wiggles and Dorothy the Dinosaur? What is Sebastian doing to me? (And why do it enjoy it so?)
