Our thanks and praises

Throughout the preparation for this trip we've received lots of help, support and advice from a lot of the folks we know -- and from a few people that we didn't know. We'd like to take some time (ours and yours) to thank them here.

Some of the giants on whose shoulders we stand are Dan's aunt Carol and uncle Brent and the great folks at Bamnet Internet.

Friends & Benefactors

Carol & Brent

Now here are truly two people without whose help this trip would never have gotten off to the incredible start that it has! Carol & Brent are Dan's aunt and uncle from North Carolina. Throughout our preparations for the trip they did an amazing amount of groundwork for us; scouting out a vehicle for us, checking up on all the paperwork surrounding buying and registering a vehicle and countless other things.

They invited us to come visit them at their house outside Winston-Salem, NC, and use it as our base while getting everything ready for the trip. We spent a little over a week with them, and had a great time together. And with their amazing help everything just fell perfectly into place!

The folks at Bamnet

We'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to the nice people over at Bamnet Internet who provide and partly sponsor our internet usage for this trip!

When we conceived the idea to put up this online travelogue while crossing the country we started looking around for an Apple friendly ISP that would meet our needs. During this hunt we stumbled across Bamnet, a company that provides 1-800 access to the internet from basically anywhere a phone line can be found -- exactly what we were looking for!

We wrote an email to their customer service department to hear if they weren't interested in sponsoring our trip :)
And to our great surprise we got an email back -- from the company CEO! He liked the idea of the trip and offered to give us a couple of hours of free internet time to start out on, and then to double up all the minutes we'd buy for the rest of our trip. We accepted, and have since then corresponded with them several times. They have proven to be very friendly and helpful, and their internet service works just perfectly for people like us connecting "on the road". If you're a traveller yourself or live in a rural area without access to an internet service, be sure to check out what they have to offer!
