Welcome to David's Viewfinder. My personal view and commentary on Digital Photography
I started in digital photography in 2002, but have been taking photographs since the 1960's. My first digital camera was an Olympus UZ2100 ultra zoom with 2 megapixels, 10X image stabilized optical zoom and popularly nicknamed "the UZI". Other cameras since include a Nikon 5700, Sony F828, Panasonic FZ10 and FZ50, Nikon S10.
Currently my primary working outfit includes Olympus E510 and E-3 DSLRs with the 14-42 kit lens, 12-60 and 70-300 lenses, plus FL36 flash and the E-3 Battery Pack.
System wise I am agnostic in that I don't favor any one camera brand/system over another. I am invested into the Olympus system and very happy with it for my needs, so write about it more then others since that is what I have to work with.
My first camera was an Imperial 127 Roll film camera that my grandmother got me with three books of Gold Bond Saving stamps. I was probably about 11 or 12 then. My college degree was in photography and I worked professionally on and off for about 17 years, including 4 as a photographers mate in the US Navy, and 4 years as a biomedical photographer. Most of the work was technical in nature and not very creative. Now days, photography is more of a hobby, then career, but I love and never get bored with it.
The banner photo is a Sunset over Manila Bay, Philippines. Taken with the Olympus E500 and 14-45 (28-90 equivalent) kit lens.
