How to find the Inspiration Templates

1. Create a Word Parts Word Web using Inspiration.

  • Students use prefixes such as: tele, semi, con, less, mis, tri, bio, etc...to create a word parts web.

2. Create a Timeline using Inspiration of their life,  an historical figure, or an event you are studying.  (An event in Texas History for example.)

3. Create a Literary Web or a Character Analysis using a story/character students have read using a template from Inspiration.

4. Students can create a Question Web using a question that you give them about a specific topic.

5. Using the Vocabulary Template in Inspiration, have students create a vocabulary word web.  (Use an online dictionary at http://www.m-w.com/ )

6. You can create a page of links you want your students to use on your webpage through Academic Planet.

8. Give students a writing prompt and have them:

  • brainstorm their ideas (using Inspiration)
  • think about the ideas they brainstormed and choose ideas they want to write about
  • think about what order they want the ideas to be in and organize them
  • have them add any ideas that they may have missed
  • begin writing their composition using Microsoft Word

9. Have students visit Author websites and list writing tips from those authors.

12. Students can write a letter to an author.

13. Students can open Microsoft Word or Inspiration and free write without regards to conventions.

  • Write Freely (Example in Microsoft Word) about whatever comes to mind

14. Have a Science Word of the day.  Students can brainstorm using Inspiration what the word means and create a word web.  (ie:  energy, mass, friction,  symmetry, water cycle, Simple Machines, safety rules)

  • Students can open the Vocabulary Template in Inspiration and have them research the word/topic.

15. Create a “What If” story using Microsoft Word

  • “What If” stories are unusual sentence starters give to students to promote creative and interesting stories.  (What if cows had wings?, What if dogs could talk?, What if the sun never set?)

18. Have students open PowerPoint and begin a journal.  Students can use the Intermediate Writing Warm-ups for the topic of a day.  You may want to post the topic of the day.
