Intro To Computers
Place: Monongalia County Technical Education Center
Class Time: Monday, 6:30p-9:20p, Wednesday, 6:30-9:20p
Prerequisites: none

Course Description: This course will cover computer hardware, software, application skills, keyboarding skills, the internet and computer ethics. After completing this course, the student should have an understanding of the basics of computers, how technology is changing the world in which we live, and the importance of the internet.

Each class session will consist of a combination of group discussion and/ or projects, hands on activities, demonstrations and Q&A.

Attendance: Regular attendance is expected because of the amount of course material covered in each class. To earn course credit, each student must attend 75% of the class sessions (12 for a 16 week course), must participate in class and take all tests.

If for any reason, Monongalia County Schools are closed (such as inclement weather, emergency measures, holiday, etc.) all Adult Education / Community Schools Programs will be cancelled. A make up class will be arranged.

Grading: There will be three quizzes. These will count for sixty percent (60%) of the final grade. There will be a final exam, which will count for thirty percent (30%) of the final grade. Performance in class will account for ten percent (10%) of the final grade. The grading scale of the Monongalia County School System will be used:

A 93 – 100
B 85 – 92
C 77 – 84
D 70 – 76
E* 69 – 00

*Students receiving ‘E’ as a final grade will not receive credit for the class.

Food and Beverages: No food or drinks are permitted in any classrooms. Food may be consumed in the designated snack area. Students are expected to keep this area neat and clean. Containers for trash are provided.

Tobacco Products: The use of tobacco in any form is not permitted in the Technical Education Center by state law.
