Golconda Fort and the afternoon adventure
Golconda is a giant, multi-layered, fort and walled city that wraps up a hill and provides a very secure position from which to wage battles or to withstand attach. It is a very clever and very intricate location complete with secret water chambers, complex water delivery systems, and even a Hindu temple or two. The fort was well-known to be practically impenetrable and warriors could hold out in the fort for more than six months at a time. The views from the top are spectacular.
I spent more than four hours climbing and exploring Golconda. It's perfect because you really can explore at will, going where you want. While I was there, the driver, Krishna, accompanied me. While wandering the fort, we ran into another person who was very nice and we chatted throughtout the trip. Through him, I was able to converse more with Krishna. The trip was great and I really liked the place alot. Oh, and I saw a movie being filmed, with full dance number.
The fort architecture had a curious way of using blind arches for decoration throughout the buildling. I am sure it means something, but I'm not exactly sure what. With so many deserted and quiet passageways and what not, Golconda was fantastic.
