New blog

I'm retiring this blog. I'm having too many problems posting. So, my new blog is on LiveJournal and is at http://www.livejournal.com/users/msblibrary/ .

Peter Gabriel

I ripped all my Peter Gabriel CDs yesterday morning. I found I'm missing one, a soundtrack PG did a few years back. It's been added to my Amazon wish list.

Gaming and More

I ran the second session of my Lord of the Rings game yesterday afternoon. I think it went well, people seemed to have a good time. After the game we went to Rainy Day Games and I acquired the following games:

GURPS SWAT, Chief Herman's Next Big Thing and Lightspeed (both from Cheapass Games), and for Spycraft: Shadowforce Archer, Modern Arms Guide, The Archer Foundation, Soldier/Wheelman Class Guide, Gentlemen's Agreement, Pan-Asian Collective, Fixer/Pointman Class Guide, European Commonwealth, Faceman/Snoop Class Guide, African Alliance, and The 1960s. Whew! I now have everything for Spycraft other than the Game Control Shield.

I've been going through the Spycraft stuff since then and will be for some time.

Dido

Dido, my iPod, came in very handy on the train trips. I listened to the three Lord of the Rings soundtracks each way.

LotR

I worked on my Lord of the Rings game tomorrow on the train on the way home this afternoon.

Much reading

Over my Christmas trip, I read The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, and, for a change of pace, The DaVinci Code. I've then started reading The Waste Land, continuing the Dark Tower series.

Daria

I saw two episodes of Daria at my dad's before Christmas. One I had seen before, but one was new. I wish these were available on DVD. It was such a great TV show.

Return of the King

I took my dad to see Return of the King Tuesday night. He enjoyed it, and mentioned something regarding it the next day, which I took as a good sign. I still think it's a great movie, but did not like it more the second time than the first, unlike the first two movies.

Angels & Demons

I just finished Angels & Demons. It was okay, a page turner, but nothing spectacular. I'm going to be starting The Gunslinger next. This will be my last post before leaving for my Dad's for Christmas. I'll be back on the 27th.

Change in Plans

I've decided to not reread The Lord of the Rings. Instead, I'm reading Dan Brown's Angels & Demons (the novel he wrote before The DaVinci Code, and involving the same main character). Next, I'll read the five volumes of Stephen King's The Dark Tower. I picked up all these games at Powell's this afternoon.

New Acquisitions

Last night, I picked up The Shop and Most Wanted, two new supplements for Spycraft. I also picked up two Hip Pocket games from Cheapass Games, Safari Jack and TimeLine. I also worked more on my Spycraft game this morning and afternoon.

Fellowship

Seeing The Return of the King has inspired me to reread The Lord of the Rings, so I've started doing so. For the 20th time or so (I've lost count).

HeroQuest

I received my copy of Dragon Pass: Land of Thunder and a second copy of the Hero's Book. They're both great books and bode well for further HeroQuest support.

I worked more on my forthcoming Spycraft campaign the last two days.

Return of the King

I went to the midnight showing of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King this morning. I'd say I liked it better on first viewing than the first two movies. The other two movies improved greatly for me on subsequent viewings so I'm interested to see how much more I end up liking RotK by the end.

Peter Jackson did an excellent job. There's only one scene I would have liked to have scene, and I'm fairly confident it will be in the extended version.

Definitely highly recommended.
