Notes for Giovanni Battista Rugo
Living in Tramonti di Mezzo in 1927 when son Giuseppe visited with children Anna, Emilia and Leonard.
Henry Rugo says that he visited their home in Tramonti di Mezzo. It was left to the person who took care of them in their old age and passed down to her family. This appears to be the person whose name is on their headstone in the cemetery, Quarta Pia Lorenzini who died in 1939. Lorenzini is a fairly common name in Italy and there are two listed in the telephone directory (2005) in Tramonti, but neither is in di Mezzo. Henry Rugo had the family tomb repaired after many years of neglect and the effects of the earthquake.
Henry’s sister Julia adds:
“I had heard there were 9 children. There was 1 other daughter who died, I know. There could have been other deaths because after the ones you mentioned were all here, the house was given to a cousin. She cared for the elderly parents in return; so there were no others remaining I would assume.
My father and his brothers took turns every 2 years or so returning to visit the parents. When we visited (Marsha and I once and another time with Burke as well) the daughter-in-law of the cousin was living in the house. She was delighted we came.”
Henry and Julia’s brother Robert Rugo says in July 2007 “My grandparents house is the last one on the left, going out of town toward the cemetery.“
