not arts education (at least not as much as we think should be there!) but ART -

There may be as many as 100 museum-quality pieces in the Philadelphia schools'
collection.
Hmmmm... maybe it is just me... but having $30 million worth of art hanging in the schools while not really providing much in arts education in many of the schools is a contradiction too tempting to avoid. I am sure having this wonderful collection in the district is a wonderful resource for the students... if it were not hanging in boiler rooms and otherwise inaccessible to the students. Maybe they could sell the art to someone who would then loan it back to the school district and then use the money to put music and arts programs back in the schools. But that's just me....
