In an overwhelming vote of support (72 - 9) for music and arts education, the heavily amended HB1034 is now on to Governor Huckabee for his signature, bringing to an end a six week battle royal between school administrators and music/arts education advocates.
Lot's of folks to thank... watch this space for more info and look for a detailed editorial in my March SBO Magazine column!
Mike White (Ark Music Educators), Joy Pennington (Arkansas Arts Council) Jay Dick and Jenny Chowning (Americans for the Arts) Mike Blakeslee (MENC), Joan Schmidt (NSBA), Sandy Jordan (SupportMusic.com) Laura Johnson (AMC) and the dozens of organizations who helped... 500,000 children will now have music because off your efforts!
