Developing a work approach that is adequate to the challenges ahead
a world moving toward new and different futureS

Current page elements: (1) Purpose reminder; (2) Site work approach elements; (3) Additional guidance; (4) Computer tools that could be employed

Go next: TLN exploration, interest profile and life-TIME investment diagnosis

Purpose reminder: put new stuff on our active radar (foundations for future directed decisions, direction diagnosis, and action options), develop an adequate work approach and build new, relevant, real capacitiesnot just credentials. A summary view

Although implied in the fundamental question, we need to be on the look out for major life altering environmental changes and think through our reactions. Example of the changes might include: the emergence of totalitarian nation-state revolutions (Nazism, communism etc.); economic depressions; industry or organization melt downs; or major natural disasters.

TLN site work approach

How the site is worked depends on how it is used. A basic approach is to create a work plan that consists of these elements:

About thinking

Explore (think multi-generationally—who else, when, and after that)

Identify areas of interest (areas where you want to INVEST more time)

Note areas of interest (some kind of document with topics and sources). A simple view of a master map

Sequence areas of interest

Schedule areas to work on

Work on them and update work plan

Repeat the exploration process before you think you need to.

Additional guidance:

End result and action

Blueprint to daily work plan

Interest profile (this is probably the best next page to visit)

The ability to piece this together in your head is a major time-life navigation capacity developer. Additionally it enables you to genuinely help others. It can't be repeated too often, the world in which we are embedded is not standing still or developing linearly. We can't get to tomorrowS by stacking up more todays—about change

Initial site exploration process? (if you have Windows XP and MS Word—recent versions):

When you run across something you want to explore further, drag and drop individual thought elements from IE to Word and the URL. Word's hidden text feature can be used to hide details. Word's outlining capabilities can also be used to reorganize material. You might want to have a separate document for each topic area as well as a common realities document for topics such as the changing social and economic picture. Another possibility is to use Jreepad and structure it based on models illustrated on the what's next page or the site folder structure on TLN text site map (Other candidates: SuperNoteCard, ThinkingRock, My Life Organized).

Outlook or Excel could be used to schedule work. Visio could be used to create structured work approach. Project planning software could be used.
