This site provides the elements
for creating a "life time" work approach
What's next?Familiarity with the changing social and economic picture is essential to assessing the value of the ideas on this page. In a sense site usage determines how it is used and what's next. The illustrations on this page are visualization aids for the action and end result descriptions. On the key ideas page I mention that this site is a CORE strategic resource and a CORE diagnostic tool. Also I mention a framework. These ideas are explored in the following paragraphs. Just below is a time usage map. It provides a framework for thinking about core time allocation. Observing where our time goes may provide us with a diagnosis.
Wisely choosing our time investments relies heavily on a foundation for future directed decisions—read more. An adequate foundation is the result of time investments. The illustration immediately below is a thinking canvas and simple core framework for creating an immediate work map for navigating the roads ahead—what's happening in time. Navigating the roads ahead requires future directed decisions and these decisions require time investments. At what point do we have an adequate work map?
The immediate work map draws on a idea palette and an interest profile that is created by exploring this site (see diagram below) and noting areas of interest in a hierarchical manner—big ideas containing smaller ideas. The concept is strategic because it sits at the highest conceptual level. It is diagnostic because it connects expected outcomes in a real world moving in time with areas of work and suggests that the thinker evaluate the adequacy of the work—what needs doing? Does the work map explain how we got to this point in social and economic development and what we need to do the be healthy in the futureS?
Every branch on the diagram could have a thinking canvas. Every branch could be calendarized. The entire system could be calendarized. The image just below illustrates that different roads (approaches or courses of action) have different expectations and different challenges.
The next image is an example of a what's next radar.
What's next Java Applet (navigation instructions) A different selection and arrangement of time life navigation © (TLN) elements and TIME investments:
The images above are examples of exploration maps, interest profiles, and work maps. Each branch is a concept or link contained on the interest profile page. The idea is to explore the one's you're interested in, mark off the ones you're not interested in. You now have an interest profile that can be judged to see if it produces an adequate time-life navigation work map—a work approach that is adequate to the challenges ahead. This is also a tentative working draft or initial blue print of your Life-TIME investment system.
The most basic way to use the site is described in topic 4 of the Time-life navigation (TLN) key ideas page and is illustrated on the radar page. An initial example worksheet might be helpful. Eventually some additional software tools will be needed as well as organizing your computer hard drive folder structure to match your interest profile.
For additional info on mind mapping, see the NovaMind web site In summary this page concerns work approach techniques or maybe a work approach system visualization for adequacy testing. Everyone will have different interests and different tools. You'll need to devise your own system. More than that it requires a solid foundation that begins years in advance. Java applet navigation aid (see What's next Java Applet above)

At the present time this is a prototype site. I add, remove, and redesign content based on my own unfolding comprehension of the time-life navigation © (TLN) landscape . This means that you might want to periodically revisit relevant pages. Site design goals (beta—September 2010): My minimum goal is to provide enough "sign-posts" that serious site users don't find themselves in major negative situations because they didn't get the TLN memo. My desired goal is to provide "sign-posts" to a meaningful life—both for individuals and society. One supreme sign-post is to set your sights on achievements that really matter, that will make a difference in the world. The second half of your life is the major opportunity for full effectiveness and fulfillment.
Many of the books that were available when I first started working on what I now call "time-life navigation" have gone out of print or are hard to find.
