unimagined futures

Developing a work approach that is adequate to the challenges ahead
a world moving toward new and different futureS

Preparing students for tomorrowS

I have a free career related web site.

The theme of the site is preparing for tomorrowS.

From the viewpoint of someone providing career assistance, the site can be used to develop an "architecture" of career and life work modules in a changing world. Work modules that go beyond occupational titles and create "horsepower" or time-life navigation capacity.

Another dimensions of the site is its top organizational strategist's viewpoint and the influence this has on related organizations and people. From this view point, jobs and careers exist only to serve the planner's and organization's "visible" needs.

The site is a unique, comprehensive tool in preparing for the dynamic challenges we face in A WORLD IN TRANSITION.

SITE OVERVIEW, FUNCTIONS, USAGE:

The site provides a framework for identifying future work investments in multiple time dimensions.

Topic areas:

  • work life evolution
  • life design
  • organization evolution
  • financial investing
  • life navigation system
  • foundations for future directed decisions

Collectively these topic areas can be seen as Time-life navigation ©

The site has over 500 pages of testable assertions, illustrations, examples from the news, snippets from books and articles, book tables of contents, and software usage examples. The site is largely based on the work of Peter Drucker, Warren Buffett, and Edward de Bono. They contrast each other.

It has top Google page rankings in more than 15 key searches such as "organization evolution."

The site provides a comprehensive system that addresses a core challenge in a DEVELOPING WORLD: How do we work on things that aren't on our radar. Which ones? When? How much lead time is needed? To complicate things even further, the content of our radar is time dependent—who had iPods on their radar 10 years ago? And then there are the things on our radar that need to be abandoned—probably before we want to. This abandonment is both a what and how issue (popularity of Buicks in China vs. the US).

The site also illustrates a multi-generational work approach.

The site is intended to be used repeatedly as a blueprint for creating a work plan and mental radar enhancement tool. It is a life-long work approach blueprint.

The fundamental USAGE idea is to identify areas of work and sequence them. The resulting configuration presents a "picture" of one's developmental desires and direction.

The site has a companion blog (Bob Embry's Time-life navigation © (TLN) weblog) that primarily lists recent news events. These events act as a reminder of the constant flow of non-linear change—tomorrows that don't grow out of yesterdays. The blog also provides a foundation and connection between current events and the concepts presented on the main site.

The very best time to begin working on identifying and sequencing future time investments is when there is no crisis or major time pressure.

The bad news: the sites is probably too challenging for students or work life newcomers. However it could be used as a model for designing a school specific approach. It seems to me that such an approach would be school attraction or marketing feature.

I'd be happy to discuss or provide some design help.

Best wishes, I hope you find the site useful

A main site entry page: Life-TIME investment system

Our country, community, and young people need an adequate conceptual approach. An approach that can't be invalidated by a quick scan of the daily news.

FYI: at some point I'm going to want to "institutionalize" this prototype site
