Sun - December 14, 2008New Scrooge RulesI propose that any future retellings of "A
Christmas Carol" need to make it known that Charles Dickens did not exist in
their fictional universe. Every time I see one of these movies I want to scream
at the screen, "Haven't you read Dickens? You know how this all works
out!"
Just little throwaway lines that reference other works, but nobody has ever heard of. Or maybe, in that world, were written by someone else. Just something to let us know that this whole adventure that they're going to go through isn't known to them. So let it be done. Posted at 12:53 PM | | | Sat - November 22, 2008Fri - February 29, 2008Leap DayI don't have anything really important to say
about it. I just wanted to have a post on the
29th.
See you in March! Posted at 08:47 PM | | | Wed - January 23, 2008Feeling A Bit Like FlandersToday is January 23rd and I just filed my taxes.
I think you can guess if I'm getting money back.
Posted at 09:15 PM | | | Sat - January 5, 2008TrafficI'm either getting older or people or driving
crazy...or I guess it could be
both.
I've been seeing so much road rage lately. Someone feels wronged in some slight way which means that they have to tailgate that other car to teach them a lesson. Brilliant. Posted at 11:26 PM | | | Fri - January 4, 2008FinallyThey've been talking about this huge storm
coming...it should have been here Thursday morning. It finally gets here Friday
night. Why can't I get a job where I can be so wrong and have no
consequences?
At least it ended up being a good rain. Posted at 10:35 PM | | | Wed - January 2, 2008Tue - August 7, 2007PostponedI got my postponement for jury
duty!
I was worried that I was going to have to miss my lecture on the 21st, but I'm safe now. Now as long as I don't get on a month long case as I have to go up north for a week starting the 24th of next month. Posted at 07:23 AM | | | Mon - August 6, 2007One Thing At A TimeI went out yesterday to the new Laemmle theatre
in Claremont. As I was there I thought how I don't usually do one thing at a
time a lot. At home I'm writing this, watching a Flight Of The Conchords
episode, checking some e-mail and I have a chat going.
Multitasking!
Tomorrow I've got big blog news. Posted at 08:06 PM | | | Sun - August 5, 2007Mon - July 30, 2007Show What You KnowTonight at the gym the motto was "shows what you
know" in regards to knowing what you're capable of. We both were able to do a
move that we didn't think we could, but when we tried it we showed ourselves
wrong.

Posted at 10:07 PM | | | Sat - July 7, 2007Tue - July 3, 2007Wed - June 27, 2007Mon - June 25, 2007We're Almost To 6!I saw a California license today that started
with 5ZC. It was bought in May, so I'm guess we're really close to the
6.
I know my car was originally 4F and I bought her April 1998. I think we got to 5 in 2003. If anyone spots a 6 please let me know. Posted at 08:28 PM | | | Sun - June 10, 2007ControlI'm sure I'm not the first to notice this, but
here it goes.
People like to have control over their environments. I see this all the time with little kids. For some reason they love to close the doors at the nursery. They don't have control over much in their world at that age, but here's one thing he/she can control. In this case, the position of our doors. You can also see it as we grow up. Some people love to break things. Mindless destruction. Again, control over another object. Of course, some people just like to break things to hurt other people. A lot of people do a lot of weird things just to have the appearance of control. Bad mistakes are made just to maintain that appearance. Posted at 09:35 PM | | | Mon - June 4, 2007Sun - June 3, 2007Getting Used To ItThis was my second weekend off, it's different,
but I'm liking it so far.
I did a bit of climbing Saturday. There was a birthday party with a gaggle of 8 year old being released towards the end of my stay. It's not that I have a problem with 8 year olds. It's just when you're climbing around them they quite understand that if I'm up on a wall that they shouldn't be directly underneath me. Then this morning I woke up early and went on the mile loop. The weather was overcast and foggy, much better than when I did it last week in the sun. So I wanted to see if I could be my 79 minute record. I managed to eek out 77 minutes 50 seconds. I stretched a bit before this time and that seemed to help, but the first 33 minutes were tough. 75 minutes is my goal, but I just don't think it's possible without running part of it, and I'm not a cheater. I did some cleaning up around the place. Went to the store for groceries. I'm not quite used to shopping with all the other people on the weekend yet. I'm used to going when everyone else is at work or home for the night. More 8 year olds, but at least here I don't have to worry about them getting clobbered by a falling body. But I guess anything is possible. The next few weekends won't be like this. I'm going back to the nursery to help out since people are going on vacations. Not a whole day of work, but enough to count as not a day off. I hope I remember how to work there. Posted at 07:31 PM | | | Sat - June 2, 2007Wed - May 30, 2007Something I Just LearnedI never understood why a nautical mile is
different from a statute mile. Now I
know.
There are 60 nautical miles to one degree of latitude. So that means that for every minute degree of latitude, that's one nautical mile. It almost makes sense now. Posted at 09:26 PM | | | Mon - April 23, 2007Sat - April 21, 2007Wed - March 21, 2007ForgetfulToday I was leaving things
behind.
At first I left my wallet in my car. I thought I left it at work, but it turns out I never took it out of the car. So by the time I did all my walking I lost a quarter of my lunchtime. And I started about 12 minutes late to begin with. ugh. And then on the way home I left the old black and white 20 in my locker so I had to go back and get it. double ugh. Not that I needed it since I'm back tomorrow morning, but it's what plays me my morning wake up tunes. Posted at 08:09 PM | | | Fri - March 16, 2007Sun - March 11, 20071962.9This morning I was counting up the cash from
yesterday. When I scooped up the pennies they felt really heavy. I totaled
them up and there were 48 of them. A good number, but they just felt heavy for
that number. So I looked at the years and they were all in between 1960-1969,
nothing before or after the 60's. I then saw the distribution was heavily in
the first half of the 60's.
The average year of a penny at my store was 1962.9 today. I don't think that'll ever happen again. Posted at 11:09 PM | | | Thu - February 15, 2007Wed - February 14, 2007Blink BlinkWhen I was in the left turn lane today I noticed
the blinkers ahead of me and I thought, "I don't think any two cars turn signals
go at the same rate." By two cars I mean different makes and models. I'd
assume that two 1999 Chevy Suburbans would have the same
rate.
Have any of you ever seen another car with your same blink rate? Posted at 11:59 PM | | | |
