Another Break?
I might be lucky enough to have a camera break on
me again.
Back in 1999 I bought a Toshiba 2.1 MegaPixel camera for $797 at Best Buy. I added on the 4 year protection plan, and I was able to use that plan in 2003 to get myself a 5 MegaPixel Sony for $2 (normally $799) and I of course added on the 4 year protection plan.
Since I bought my Nikon the Sony has been quiet, so I lent it to Doug so he could document his house tear down and remodel. Yesterday the Sony just stopped working. It shows a mostly black screen with a little red bar on the top. When you snap a photo it goes through the motions of taking the photo, but everything comes out black.
So I dug out the receipt and took it in to get repaired. Now if everything works as I hope it will, they'll be unable to repair it and I'll get $799 Best Buy store credit. I don't know what I'd do with that, but I'm sure I could find something. And the nice thing is that if things go the absolute worst I get a functioning camera back. That's a win/win situation in my book.
