Solve a NeoOffice/J patching problem Mon, Jan 31

I'm not sure if this is a hint or just good old common sense, but here goes ... I recently switched from using OpenOffice.org (OOo) to NeoOffice/J, an OS X-native version of OOo written mostly in Java. It does everything I need and is reasonably stable. However, when I start up the application, it checks to see if there are any patches available. If there are, it opens up my browser and takes me to the download page. Convenient, no? Except for one thing: when I try to install the patches (in .pkg format), the installer insists that there are no suitable partitions for the installation. (They all appear crossed out in red.) The most recent patch was just the other day and after failing to install once again, I decided to do something about it. I uninstalled NeoOffice/J and its support files (just drag them into the Trash). Then I downloaded NeoOffice/J again and reinstalled. After the install, I applied the patch and it worked just fine. In fact, the update gave me better startup speed, improved Office compatibility and a snazzy new icon and splash screen! Posted: Tue - February 1, 2005 at 10:07 PM |
