State to Child Molestors: The Candy Store is Open
Ok - I had to get this rant out quick so I freely
admit this is alarmist response without any real research (See Benford's
Law)
My friend at work tells me that
some elementary schools are considering providing free birth control pills to
all the girls. Hmm - let me think about that for a minute. Are you friggin
insane?
To be fair let us look at the
arguments:
1) Parents are not involved
with their children
2) Children are having
sex
3) Children and getting
pregnant
4) We have to protect the children
(I KNEW IT WAS IN THERE SOMEWHERE!)
The
school's answer?
A) Give the girls birth
control pills
B) Parents don't have to be
notified
C) Problem
solved
Ok, that seems to be about it
yes?
So the argument goes that parents
are not involved with their children. Well - this may be a the case for many,
but not all children. But I know for a fact that this is not the case in every
case. I work with a number of parents all of whom are actively involved with
their children. They are sports coaches, scout coaches, bowling instructors,
youth leaders - and yet their children would fall under the same regulations as
the child who's parent is not involved. Decisions made by the few - for the
masses. Hmm.
The argument also goes
that children are having sex. My GOD! This has never happened before! Why
haven't I heard of this? Children? Having sex? What could have caused this?
Why I don't know - perhaps living in a society which has been taught that sex is
a private matter not to be discussed with anyone - no one else's business, that
oral sex is not sex, that sex in all it's forms are a right of each individual
and that alternate forms of sex are more acceptable that heterosexual .... never
mind. Im sure all this will be lost on the average
reader.
Ok, so how do we stop our
children from having sex? Well - get involved. But the parents are not
involved. Ok - so in those cases we need a plan. I say, if a child is having
sex and the parents are not involved then I do not want my tax dollars being
continually dumped into medication that a sixth grader can get for free but
neither my nor my wife's health insurance will cover for my wife. So, I would
much rather all children (boys and girls) have tubal ligation and vasectomy on
the first day of 5th grade. Problem
solved.
My solution has the added
benefit of COMPLETELY eliminating any possibility of birth - where birth control
and condoms fail so very frequently (according to popular
opinion).
Which ever solution you
select they both should have the added benefit of reducing our criminal
population. The argument goes something like
this:
First you have accepted that
children are having sex.
Secondly you admit
that the sex is consensual.
Thirdly you have
told the child (through your actions of supporting safe sex) that this is a
permissible act for a child
Thereby you have
remove legal punishment for a child participating in a consensual sexual
act
No - follow the slippery slope
here
A child molester hangs out near
the local school and asks teenagers for sex, eventually finds one and is
arrested. His lawyer argues that:
1. Because
pre-adult sexual activity is condoned and supported by the
state
2. Because the sexual relationship was
consensual between two partners
His client
cannot under the law be
prosecuted.
Problem solved - the candy
store is open.
This is yet another
reason why my wife and I have chosen not to have
children.
The government (ie the State
through the School) is making both a Moral and Medical decision for the parent
(who is by the way the legal guardian of the child). That decision is to
(currently) offer the child pregnancy protection through the use of "The Pill".
While this appears to be a choice now - it lays the groundwork for forced
medication in the future.

Mrs. Smith (Biology Teacher) We
offer our students birth control - yet they are still getting pregnant. When I
asked Suzy how she got pregnant she told me she doesn't take the pill. She
sells it to her mother for $5.
Mr.
Jones (Physical Education: My God - black marketing. How do we stop
that?
Mrs. Thomson (School Nurse): I
could watch the girls take the pill every
morning.
Mrs. Jackson (Principal):
Perfect idea Mrs. Thomson. Begining Monday every girl must report to the nurses
office. You will administer the medication to each girl personally.
Mr. Jones (Physical Education): Did
everyone notice how our football team was a bit lacking last year? A few
winning games sure would drive up attendance at the games. That would bring the
school much needed funding next year. What we really need are some Steroid
shots for the
linebackers.
