If we didn't laugh - we'd have to cry
Our oldest dog is not doing well. He has
cancer.
He has held on for far longer
than we thought he would. Last year we thought we were going to loose him
totally. He completely stopped eating for a week - then for no reason what so
ever started up again. Mostly he seems to remain fairly happy - but these past
couple of days he has taken another turn. He is in some obvious pain now - but
being the stoic guy that he is, he tries to hide it from
us.
Which brings me to today's
story.
Nova has had a bit of a hard
time getting around lately. Once he is up he seems to pretty much wonder around
for a while, then it takes him some time to lay down again. Now he is sleeping
restfully.
Today, while we were away,
he apparently was able to squeeze in between one of our other dogs cages (with
the dog in it), remove a comfy dog pillow from between the wall and the cage
(which was covering an air vent) and take a
poo.
Now, since the cancer is in the
poor guys bottom - we are always happy when he is able to poo. But, as we were
cleaning it up we noticed that the little weasel bombed one right down between
the slats of the vent and into the pipe.
It's a good thing we found it -
otherwise soon it would be ...... where is that smell coming
from?
Anyway - it's good to see that he
hasn't lost his sense of humor. If he wasn't able to make us laugh from time to
time, we'd probably be in tears of sorrow.
