Secret warm up gig for the WHO Tour

Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros
Joe Strummer: Vocals and Rhythm Guitar
Martyn Slattery: Lead Guitar, Keyboards et al
Jim Hogarth: Bass Guitar
Tymon Dogg: Violin
Pablo Cook: Percussion
Smiley: Drums

Anthony Genn had now left the band and Scott Shields was resting following illness. Tymon Doggs debut. This was the begginnings of The Mescaleros II

cdr - demo version - not bad - Sound 4 - 59min - 1gen - tracks 13

A pretty decent sound though the retail version has some slight skips throughout. The bass is lost though a bit, though the bass player was standing in at two days notice for the absent Scott Shields. Also left the band now is Anthony Genn, ex Elastica guitarist who had been part of the set up from his contributions to writing the Rock Art Album in the beginning.

Overall it probably rates a 4, though everything is very clear. Just the mix, a touch of flatness and a fraction of distance.

With two missing then and with Q magazine in the house to video 4 tracks for the forthcoming November 15 Q awards, the set list was kept short. (Joe got the outstanding contribution to music award, the only award not voted for) 5 new songs were introduced with Tymon Dogg on violin being introduced as a permanent band member.
