Out of Control Tour
The Clash go Back to Basics - European Tour

cdr - good sound - some flaws -
Sound 4 - 58min - v.low - 17 tracks

Quite a decent sound on this one. This cdr copy came direct from the originally circulated tape. It has some noise and slight distortion. But a good all round audience sound to it as well that makes for enjoyable listening.

The review does not come from a magazine called "kopia". It's a xerox ("copy") from a newspaper.

The band was interviewed for the only rock programme on the country's only TV station; I remember Joe Strummer saying that he'd watched MTV, but he hadn't heard the great song that made him run to the record store: "Oh I gotta get this one". They refused to be filmed for the broadcast, so a live clip of "Should I stay or should I go" (featuring Mick Jones, a point that was not lost on the veejay) was broadcast instead.

Drammen 84 - Kopia Review
translation

The new Clash sounds great. Joe Strummer did the right thing when he kicked Mick Jones out of the band. The new Clash are better than ever, they are heavier, has more speed and more passion.

The european tour started of to a crowd of 5000 chair throwing Norwiegans but the wildest of them all was Joe Strummer who at the last song throw himself from an amplifier with blood and a bump on the head as a result. Then the reviwer goes on with more info that the new Clash are better than ever with the new guys in the band.

Only Paul Simonons harmonica version of Guns of Brixton get’s the thumbs down. The new songs are difficult to judge after just one listen but the reviewer thinks the new songs are going back to old fashion rock ’n’ roll. Joe gets the last word in the review – The Clash gets’s better with each gig, we just has to give it all on stage.

this gig never took place. the band were scheduled to play Espace Ballad on the 23rd Feb. but this had to be re-sheduled to March 1st as a national lorry drivers strike blocked the trucks carrying the gear at Calais. Tickets stubs however stiff carry the 23rd date for a price of 80F which would have been about £6 at the time.
