Not WHAT Fest???
Live event chronichled forever in digital
format
Today I journeyed to Downtown Music, a
real punk club in downtown Little Rock to see a band called Reagan's Polyp. They
started in 1992 or so playing 15 second songs of noise. Most of the members were
my friends including Sterno, Mark Beshirs, and Matthew Johnson. They've been
together for all these years and they just keep getting better. Progressive
improv with a Zappa attitude. Anyway, there were excellent, this time playing
with just a bassist (Jake), Matthew on drums along with Sly (formerly of the
Cosmic Giggle Factory and other LR bands) also on drums and special guest TC of
TC and the Eddies. The dual drummer
setup was truly awe inspiring, Sly often stopped playing completely, just as a
guitarist or saxophone player would when improvising. The two of them together
was better than any dual drummer gig I have yet witnessed. Both Matthew and
Sterno invited me to join Sly and Jake in a new dual drummer, dual bassist
instrumental metal band. I readily accepted their
offer.Brook Caruthers was also there
and he brought along a dual cd set of the 2004 NotFest show from March of 2004,
featuring me and cardboard as well as other LR artists. I played this gig just
days after moving back to LR after being in Austin for 12 years. It was a sort
of 'homecoming party' and it was a lot of fun. The artwork on the cd is awesome,
Brooks really put a lot of time and effort into it. You can check it out on my
notfest 04 web
page:http://www.jagshouse.com/music/notfest04/notfest04.htmlListen
to some truly warped blues by yours truly and order the cd and support some
experimental little rock improvisational
entertainment.
