Tolerance – how much radiation tissue can withstands.
Is used in treatment planning.
Theraputic
Ratio – NTTD (normal tissue tolerance dose) / TLD (tumor
lethal dose)
Erythema
– redness of the skin
Dry
desquamation – flaking, peeling, itching skin
Moist
desquamation – skin has broken down. There is a
risk of infection therefore patient must see the doctor and be put
on rest
Epilation
– loss of hair
Hyperpigmentation
– tanning of the skin
Atrophy
of the skin – the skin shrinks and lacks pigment.
It is weaker then healthy skin.
Telangectasia
– red marks on the skin as a result of broken blood vessels.
Late
Ulceration – the skin breaks down and tissue may become
necrotic.
Compazine
– drug given for nausea and vomiting
Lomatil
– drug give for diharrea
Anemia
– is a deficiency in the binding of oxygen to RBC’s. Makes
the patient pale, weak, and blue under the nails.
Thrombocytosis
– too many platelets in the blood.
Thrombocypenia – too
little platelets in the blood. Causes hemorrhaging in
the patient.
