The transverse plane divides the body into a top and bottom portion (used in CTscans)

The sagital plane divides the body into left and right halves

Frontal Plane (Axial)- divides front from back

Supine (on back)

Prone (on stomach)

 

3 most common films: Port, Sim, Verification film

Barium mix shows digestive system. Patient is given a barium mixture which they swallow while the tech takes the x-ray or does scan.

Grid Tray - BB tray, provides a reticule on a film

Fixer & Developer (processor) are the two chemicals used in x-ray processors

Things that should be written on film : Name, Date, Initials, Field of View (found on film)

 

Dry Laser Printer (prints port films and films from Ctscans

Orthagonal Pair ( film taken for 90’ set up)

Vertebral Bodies L4-L5 are inline with the iliac crest

 

 

Familzarize Yourself with various x-rays and CtScans and the important anatomy on them:

  • pelvic region
  • head and neck region
  • thoracic region
  • brain
