Burmis tree
One of the most photographed trees in Western Canada - the Burmis tree in the Crow's Nest Pass (july 07). It is named after the coal mining town of Burmis. The limber tree, which marks the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, has been around for 700 years. The Burmis tree died in the late 1970s and in 1998 actually toppled over. The people of the Crow's Nest Pass propped the tree back up.
