CHERNOBYL::20

I'm involved in a project called CHERNOBYL::20 that has great potential to make a difference. The project has two components: a photo exhibition showing life in the aftermath of Chernobyl, and a music CD compilation to raise funds for Chernobyl charities.

I'm the curator of the photo exhibition, which compiles dedicated, expressive work by top photographers (and some just starting out). The goal is to promote awareness of Chernobyl's serious human and environmental consequences, which are ongoing and even escalating.

We managed to get a high-profile opening on Capitol Hill for Chernobyl's 20th anniversary (April 26th). Policymakers on both sides of the aisle, ambassadors, etc will be there. We also have an opening scheduled for April 28th at the United Nations, to coincide with the General Assembly meeting about Chernobyl.

The benefit music CD, being coordinated by Eric Hilton of Thievery Corporation, will be released later this year to raise funds for our two participating Chernobyl charities.

Please visit www.C-20.org for more background and a gallery of the photographs.
