Christmas light

This photo was taken near my mother's house on the Chesapeake Bay. The tree sits on diving platform a few hundred yards from shore, connected by underwater cable. The first tree (originally a real one, now actually a frame strung with lights) was installed by my mom's friend Ed Becke in 1983. He wanted a bedridden neighbor with a view of the bay to see a Christmas tree one more time before passing away. Now it's a yearly tradition, and an unofficial memorial for area residents who have died.
