Our Social Efforts:
Social causes: While trekking in the Himalayas, we happened to meet Madan, a 7-year old boy who comes from a poor village in the lower Himalayas. He is handicapped with club feet. He is currently recovering from extensive pediatric survey which corrected this condition. We (ourselves and friends) have financially supported ongoing fund to both provide medical treatment for this boy and also provide financially for his schooling and his family's destitute living condition.
These children, Kishor and his brother, belong to Mansadevi, who is a widow in Varanasi. When we were in India last summer, we met her while she was living on the streets with her children selling peanuts and cigarettes. We were very impressed by the quality of her children and how she diligently sent them to school in the cleanest rags possible. We have since then, been contributing to their needs by finding good housing for her and providing money to aid her living expenses.
All of these lovely folks who you see here live on the edge.. an edge which we shall most likely never face.. atleast not every single day of our lives.. as is so for them.. They struggle to meet the most basic needs such as clean water, simple and healthy foods... clothing..lodging and most of all.. health. Yet, with all of them, their substandard conditions don't squelch their beauty and their dignity. These are folks in whose eyes, I have seen deep wisdom and great resilience, who have taught us what simple joy is and in whom, we have learned the meaning of oppression. We, along with many dedicated folks, will continue to support with love these folks in any way we can.. whether it is to provide money, clothing, toys and simple words of encouragement and love or opportunities for work. Please join us in these efforts with your prayers and support.
10% of all CD and tape sales aid in ongoing relief efforts for these folks.
