eveningChickens

Every afternoon we let our chickens out to graze and wander and play around the house. At dusk, they instinctively go back into the hen houses.

Frenchie is an Auracana rooster.
Buffy Handy and the guinea hen pullets
Buffy Handy is a Buff Orpington.
The Araucanas like to hang together.
Biondi checks out the wheelbarrow.
Araucanas are very curious.
They also love to jump on things. P.D.
Scratching up the orchard.
Frenchie has a little beret for a comb.
Our house in the background.
The pasture with three chicken tractors.
Junior is a Rhode Island/Australorpe mix
He's a handsome devil.
Frenchie gets anxious as the sun sets.
That's the love shack behind Frenchie.
The girls start to gather by their house
They love to eat grasses, seeds and bugs
A full moon rises in the east.
Month-old baby Araucana chicks.
More grazing. They love fresh grass.
You can see the Caribbean to the south.
The henhouses are movable.
Ladies, time to get inside!
Junior doesn't have his own harem yet.
I think he likes YOU, look out!
He's warming up to the camera...
The ladies find the door and head in.
Junior showing off.
Up the ramp to the roost upstairs...
Looking out of the love shack...
The guinea hens chat under the moon.
Bedtime...
A look inside the love shack.
Chicken's eye view...
Getting dark.
Frenchie and his girls bed down...
...they sleep in a pile.
A sleepy Araucana biomass.
Junior goes to bed too.
The sun is going, going...
...good night.
