17" MacBook Pro

While it looks like I'll have to wait until late this year/early next year to get Universal Binaries of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, IIllustrator and InDesign) and Microsoft Office, a lot of the other applications I use have already been converted - like OmniOutliner, OmniGraffle and NovaMind.

I ordered a new 17" MacBook Pro last month and it should be shipping soon. I'm really excited about this computer as I've been using my 15" PowerBook G4 1GHz since January 2003. It still runs fairly well, but this new computer should be able to run laps around it. I had been hoping for a PowerBook G5 all last year, but those never materialized and Apple decided to switch to Intel processors.

MacOS X and all the apps that the Mac ships with are all Universal Binaries already. I'm actually expecting that Creative Suite, Office and Painter IX.5 will all run slightly better under Rosetta than my PowerBook G4.

The computer has 2.16 Dual Core Intel processor, built in iSIght camera, Front Row software with remote control and more. I upgraded the RAM to 2GB.

It should be shipping soon. Some people have already received theirs as some of the Mac news sites have been reporting. So it should be only a week more. But I'll probably have to wait until I get back from Spain to play around with it.
