Why i>Clicker in the CHEM 232 Classroom?
iclicker3
The i>clicker remote is being adopted this semester for three primary reasons: to take attendance, to increase class participation and to gauge how well students are grasping the material presented in lecture. I believe strongly that very little can be learned by passively listening to a lecture or casually reading a textbook. Participation is key. While much can be said about memory and learning, the take home message is that the i>clicker prevents me from rambling and you from snoozing. I hope it will be a worthwhile and fun experience for everyone.

Statistics and Session Questions
Session summary statistics can be found on the Summary page. Follow the links for each session to view the questions, answers and points awarded. Generally, each question is worth two points: one point is awarded for answering the question; an additional point is given for the correct answer.

Web Based Registration
In order to receive credit for i>clicker responses, you must register during the first week of the course. You must use your i>clicker at least once in class before attempting to register. I will pose questions every lecture, beginning on the first day of class so that you may complete your registration process by the deadline.

1. Vote on at least one question in class during the first week.

2. Direct your web browser to
www.iclicker.com/registration.

3. Complete the fields with your first name, last name, student ID, and remote ID. (See below to determine your student ID and to locate the remote ID.)

Determining Your Student ID
Your OWL student ID will follow the format below. The underscore IS part of the ID. If you registered after 1/5/08, please send Chad an email so that he may update the registration list.

Student ID = discussionsectionCRN_UINnumber

For expample, if Chad Landrie (UIN = 867542997) registered for lecture 28574 and discussion section 11427, his i>clicker student ID would be: 11427_867542997.

Only use your discussion section CRN for the first five numbers; do not use the lecture CRN.

Finding the i>Clicker Remote ID
The remote ID is the series of numbers, and sometimes letters, found on the bottom of the back of your i>clicker remote.
