AppleScript Sharing

Leopard has made a number of these scripts either obsolete or broken.  In addition, Google changed the file structure for exporting contacts.  So, please use these scripts with diligence.  In general, the user should only expect them to work on OS 10.4 (or OS 10.3).  They may work in 10.5, but generally with modifications that are not indicated.

Note:  ABGmerge appears to not work with the new Google File structure (or perhaps the problem is Leopard’s.)  Since I have not had much feedback, I am discontinuing support unless there is an outcry.

ABGmerge-V.0.7  [ABGmerge.app.zip]

Synchronize Gmail Contacts with Apple OS X Address Book.  To view the Read Me file before downloading, click here - ABGmerge Read Me.rtfd.zip

This is a minor improvement over V.0.6 - it will now properly handle all UTF 8 characters (eg. Japanese characters).  This applescript application will synchronize the Google gmail contacts with the Apple Address Book.  It requires downloading a file from gmail, processing the file, and then uploading a new file to gmail.  Read the ‘Read Me’ file above for a full description.  Note: there are some reports that processing more than 1000 contacts can cause Address Book to crash.

make ical  [make ical.scpt]

QuickSilver script that creates iCal events and todo’s from a command line.

See the header of the script for installation and usage instructions.  This works with OS X version 10.4.  It does not work with version 10.5, instead click here [make ical.scpt].

iTunes2Phone  [iTunes2Phone.app]

Inspired by the great iTuneMyWalkman which no longer supported 10.3.  This will work with OS X 10.3 and 10.4 - designed just for Sony-Ericsson w810i.

It has a bonus feature - allowing you to create playlists (and override the artist/album format) that start with ‘pl-’.  All other playlists in a folder called ‘4phone’ in iTunes will have their songs copied to your phone or card reader.  Make sure you change the max size to reflect your card size in the variables at the beginning of the script.  Sorry, there is no better documentation than this.

iphoto2phone  [iphoto2phone.scpt]

A complimentary script for both iTumeMyWalkman and ITunes2Phone.  It will copy all the photos in albums stored in the folder ‘4phone’ to your phone or card reader.  It will also ensure there are no invisible files copied.

Stickies2phone  [Stickies2phone.scpt]

Another useful script for any bluetooth phone.  This will copy via bluetooth your stickies notes to your phone as a navigable text webpage.

TodoSync [TodoSync.zip]

Sync your iCal todos with your iPhone using an IMAP mailbox.  A bare bones version of what Leopard promises

Access your iCal todos from your iPhone.  Keep them in sync.  Add new Todos on the go from your iPhone.  Every time TodoSync is run on your mac, it will check for any changes to iCal and add any new todos from your iPhone.  A readme file is included in the zip file.  You must have an IMAP account configured for both your iPhone and your Apple Mail.
