Hacksaw Attachment for Gingery Miller

This easily mounted and surprisingly good hacksaw is a neat and useful project for anyone who has built the Gingery miller. It mounts on the mill table with just one carriage bolt like all the
attachments. The camshaft plugs into the miller's spindle for the rotation. It takes less than one minute to install and be ready to saw!
Any of the milling vises can be used for holding the work, including the swivel one which will allow limited angled cuts. The saw uses hardware store blades. Mine requires a blade with 8 inch hole centers which are sometime hard to find. However, the holes can easily be made with a Dremel grinder. (I used
my homebuilt EDM machine which also does the job nicely.)

The saw resembles one described in a 1950 article by Duplex but it is much simpler. I'm sure the Duplex articles are still available.
Here's a short video of the saw in use.

To see it, you may need to download Quicktime Viewer.

The following drawings are included to aid in construction and to allow the builder to substitute some hardware and part sizes to suit the material on hand. (Most of my dimensions were chosen to suit the materials and leftovers in my junk box. They may be changed without problems.) Together with the photos, this should be all you need to build your own hacksaw.
