NEW YORK, NY - The
tour may be on hiatus this week, but the Power Rankings never rest. Once again,
there wasn't a great deal of movement in the standings.
The Global Division looks the same as last week,
with Des Moines' Sage firmly entrenched in the top position. The Iowa Machine
Shed shot to the second spot in the Chain Division, based on my realization that
the restaurant is actually a family owned collection of nearly ten locations.
Whitey's Ice Cream in Davenport debuts this week atop the Counter Division on
the strength of its ice cream, its status as a local Quad-Cities institution,
and the near-blinding cleanliness of its
facility.
Pitt
demonstrates the proper way to order dessert at
Whitey'sWith two ice cream
establishments in the Top 5 of the Counter Division (and one in the Global
Division), I may have to create a separate Counter Division for desserts. It's
probably not fair to compare a place like Panera to a place like Culver's, when
both excel at completely different aspects of what I lovingly refer to as
Quotidian Cuisine. Tune in to the next dPR to see what I eventually decide to
do. GLOBAL
