Children's Recipe

The good kids of Novak Elementary School were kind enough to write us letters of welcome. Talk of food is always unavoidable. A young gourmet offered up one of her prized recipes...

The great kids at Novak Elementary School wrote letters to welcome all of us. Most of the letters contain questions you would expect from kids: where are you from, what kind of car do you drive, how old are you, etc. Some, however, stand out. A few excerpts:

"The first thing I want to say is, 'Great headshot!' Now let's get down to business..."

"My mom and dad might get a devorse because my dad won $3000 off a lottery and didn't tell my mom for a year."

"Do you have a perm or natural curl?"

"I have a motto: when you put your mind to it, don't stop until you do it. Do you have a motto? Mottos are a good way to express yourself."

"P.S. Don't leave the oven on."

My favorite, though, is a recipe sent to Nicole. In her bio that was distributed to all the kids, Nicole wrote that brussels sprouts were one of her favorite foods. Seizing upon this information, a young girl wrote:

That's really one of your favorite foods, is it? Brussels Sprouts? I made up a few fake recipes for you...

Brussels Sprouts
Ingredients: Raw Brussels Sprouts, lots of hot water, chocolate bar

1. cook brussels sprouts
2. throw them away
3. Eat chocolate bar!

The actual recipe given to Nicole

This is but a proverbial taste of the love showered upon us at this wonderful school. Dozens of drawings and cards were made by the kids to show their enthusiasm for our visit, and a goodie bag with bound letters from the kids was prepared for each of us.

Off to the afternoon show, which is a short-length Così at a Catholic school down the road.
