Hist Lib. & Huntington Beach Public Library Obituary...May 7, 1936...Ames, Kansas Mrs. O.M. Bulla A baby girl came to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Reid on Nov. 12, 1868 at their home in Charleston, Iowa and to her they gave the name Sadie L. At the age of 10 years she came with her parents to Yuma, Kansas. She was united in marriage to O.M. Bulla, Feb. 28, 1894 at Clyde, Kan. They lived at Belleville a short time and later moved to Kansas City, Mo. where they spent eight happy years. After two years in Osbourne County, Kansas, they came to their home near Clyde where they have lived until she departed this life April 29 at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 17 days. Friends who came to this home knew she was a true, kind and loving wife, a good, kind neighbor. She has left to mourn her loss, her husband; one sister, Mrs. Herbert Hakes; three brothers, Edwin, Rufus and William, all of Concordia. Her father and mother and two brothers, Charles E. and John preceded her in death. There are besides, other relatives and a host of friends who mourn. While living in Kansas City, Mo., she was converted and after coming to Clyde, Kan. united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. Funeral services were held from her late residence near Ames on Friday, May 1 at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. C. Cray Jones, who spoke from the text, Mark 14:8 which was selected by the deceased. Burial was made at Mt. Hope Cemetary at Clyde, Kan. Per Don Reid, son of Rufus Carwin Reid who was the brother of "Sadie" (Reid) Bulla, "Sadie loved to whistle. She would answer and listen in to all the calls on the party line and you would know it was her because she would whistle."391 | ||||||||||
